Feast From the Middle East
Lamees Dahbour is of Palestinian origin and was born and raised in Kuwait. Her inspiration comes from her mother's kitchen, where she learned to cook since she was 10 years old. As an employee of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, she’s lived in various Middle Eastern countries, learning something new about each cuisine. After immigrating to the US and moving to San Francisco, she joined the La Cocina kitchen incubator for women, immigrants, and people of color. She’s served comforting dishes at farmers’ markets, Off the Grid, and the Public Market Emeryville, as well as catering full feasts.
Today, Mama Lamees blends all those flavors and experiences through her authentic and unique Middle Eastern dishes, including generous falafel, roasted cauliflower drenched in labneh and tahini, and pistachio baklava. As a single mother of three kids, and survivor of domestic violence, she teaches to never give up. No matter how difficult the circumstances, if you persist, you can persevere. She hopes to pass this business on to her children in the future.
